Today was 4th grade's last day of GIFTED :-( to finish our year with Mrs. Zawis we did many fun activitys but here are a few. We finished our "Jazz Musicians" project by doing posters and doing VoiceThreads for the posters. We also did an activity called "Silly sentances" where two people were given a random sentence and a situation that they had to follow and say there sentence at one point. We also did trebuchets

( An object like a catapult that uses a weight to fling an object in a sack.) where we launched a bon-bon, a pencil eraser, and a tootsie rool to see which object would go the furthest. The two objects that went the furthest the most were the tootsie roll and the eraser.

And lastly we did skits where a group of students were given scripts for numerous skits involving: Sawdust with chocolate on it, 7 up, and the president of the united states jumping out of an airplane. This concludes the final Gifted blog post.

Today in gifted, we started with Anagrams. To those people who dont know what an anagram is it is a word whose letters can be rearrabged to make a new word. For example, the letters of thorn can be rearranged to make north. Then we did something called the glogster.
We made virtual posters! Cool! Last but not least we learned about Jazz Musicians. As you can see we been really busy today in gifted.

Today in gifted we did something called spectacular structures and we had to find the great structures from around the world. We also learned about post and lintel. With post and lintel we had to make a stucture of it by using two books and a piece of paper. We put cubes on top of the paper but not on the book and tried to put as many cubes as we could without the paper falling through. Then we made ABC books ( like P is for Passport our book of the month) with what we had learned from architecture.

yYou choose to try to get to Israel alone. You end up in Paris because you didn’t go the right path. Next thing you know, you end up in Tokyo so you decide to walk in a straight line. You end up in Jordan. Just a few more steps. Finally, you are in Israel. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

You are happy to stay with Chris, so you decide to start searching for an airport. Hey, there’s one! Oh, yeah, you have no money. So you decide to walk to Israel. You take two steps and then fall asleep. When you awaken, Chris is gone, and a hippie is using your foot as a plate to eat his Frosted Mini Wheats. As you scream, “SCRAM! SCRAM! GET OUTTA HERE!” He drops 7,000 pounds (That’s English money) while running away. You first drop by a diner called “The Breakfastham Palace” and order a few croissants. With the remaining money, about 6,985, you purchase a ticket to Israel. While boarding the huge plane, you see Jeremy sitting on a bench… With 62 seconds ‘till the plane lifts off, you sprint to a nearby information desk! You thrust the money at the lady standing behind the counter and she gives you a ticket! Going full speed, you grab Jeremy by his arm, hand him the ticket and push him into the plane! He shows to the man on the plane and you do the same. Man, that was close! Wait, you left your carry-on’s on the bench! You leap over the seat in front of you and sprint towards your belongings, 20 seconds ‘till lift off! You grab items and leap for the plane’s door 5… Almost there! 4… Doors closing! 3… Engine starting! 2... You leap for the door! Hoorah! You’re in! To Israel! WHAT!?!? The plane’s outta gas… Well, good luck getting to Israel! You’re stuck in England!

You decide to go to “Bob’s bad flying machines”. You go in the walls are so clean you can see your face in them. There is a thin man wearing a fancy white suit. He greets you with “Hello my name is, Bob! Don’t let the name deceive you we actually have quite a great service! If we don’t fix your plane we’ll give you a free car!”. Sydney and Greg use their own money to pay. You show Bob where the plane and goes out and in twelve minutes the plane is fixed. You walk out side to look at the plane. The second you start to climb up the tower the engine to the plane explodes! “Well, I guess you get that free car.” Bob says. At that moment a car that looked like a Model T pulled out of the driveway it’s tailpipes were spitting fumes.

vacation in fridaly part 4 (again)

You go in “Joe’s junky planes”. The walls are incrusted with mold and other substances. You see Joe at the front desk taking a nap. You wake him up and ask for service. Sydney pulls out a crisp $20 bill and gives it to Joe. “Okay, where’s this big ‘ol flying contraption?” Joe asks. Greg leads him outside and points to the Eiffel Tower with the plane wedged on top. Joe stares at the crashed plane for a minute and finally says “how the heck’d that thing get up there?!” He sighs and throws one of those spy movie-like grappling hooks onto the top of the tower. He climbs up and after nearly two hours the plane was fixed up perfectly. John stared in awe at the plane. Joe climbed down the hook and told everyone to climb up the hook’s rope. Before we knew it we were off. We were skyrocketing through the air and right before our eyes we arrived in the U.S.A again.

You decide to leave because the smell is to much stomach. You go around looking for a mechanic to fix the plane. After three grueling hours of looking you and the group find two plane repair shops (conveniently). They are called “Joe’s junky planes” and “Bob’s bad flying machines”. You ponder which one to go in because they both sound like great repairmen.

Never Leave Fritaly choice

You all decided to never leave Fritaly and turn down Ray Ramono’s free tickets to America. Greg especially wanted to go to America because he wanted to go to Area 51. He wanted to see aliens there. Greg flew solo to America and went to Area 51. He tried to sneak into Area 51 but if he passed the orange line he would get shocked. He tried 10 times to get passed the line but he couldn’t so he got a rubber suit and passed the line easily. Then he went in a room that said KEEP OUT!!!!!! He couldn’t read and thought it said tours of the aliens. When he went in, he saw tons of aliens that where really mean but Greg thought they were nice and tried to play BINGO with them. An escape pod popped up out of the ground and when it opened up its door John was standing there. John grabbed Greg and pulled him in the escape pod. In a split-second, they were back safe and sound right in Fritaly. When they opened the door, they
saw Sydney and Erina right in front of them. You two told Greg not to wonder off on himself!

Vacation In Fritaly part 4

Greg and John said that there was a state park 2 miles away from Friddle Diddle music store, and they sell delicious sandwiches there. So you and Erina took a taxi to Friddle Diddle music store and then walked two miles to the state park. They got to feed deer and ducks with the bread from a bakery close to the park, while waiting for Greg and John. Finally we saw Greg and John huffing and puffing as they ran to the lake. We both decided that they were racing. But unfortunately Greg and John were running so fast they were not looking where they were going and they pushed you two in the lake and Greg and John lost balance and also fell in. So the next thing you know you and your friends were at the clothes store to get new clothes for us. You and Erina got polka-dot t-shirts and a pair of jeans. John got a white shirt and a red velvet jacket with a pair of jeans. Greg got the only thing that had his size which was a black t-shirt with a book cover on it and the title said Get That Pumpkin Hat Off Your Head. He got the pumpkin hat to go with it and also a pair of baggy jeans, he got the book free with everything he bought. After an hour of picking out clothes and making fun of Greg’s outfit, we decided to go back to the park and get some food at the bakery, it was delicious. It was the best bread you ever had.

Sydney and Erina decide to jump off the plane with jacket parachutes. So you two jump off the plane and the parachute lands on top of your heads and someone thought we were ghosts that fell from the sky. When you and Erina took the parachutes off, you realize you were in the Rome Coliseum and are thousands of people staring at you. You two run out of the Coliseum at the speed of lightning because of how scared you two are. So you two run out of the Coliseum to a pay phone.

Just as Erina was about to put in her coins, Erina noticed she didn’t have any Fritaly coins so Erina asks you to run to the bank and exchange her American coins for Fritaly coins. So you run to the bank and get Fritaly coins so you two can call Greg and John. Greg and John are in the middle of Fritaly.

We all greeted the pilot and then looked for our seats A: 28, Q: 62, and E: 12. We sat down a stared out the window. Sydney and Erina were sitting in front of a baby. Who cried the entire time! It was a very unpleasant trip!

It was about two grueling hours. The pilot announced “We shall be landing in 30 minutes.”“WAAAAHHH!” the baby cried. The plane was going down faster….. and faster and then up. The pilot announced “Fasten your seatbelts!”

Suddenly…. The plane stopped in midair. And almost immediately we began to fall. Screams filled the air. BANG! Everyone seemed discombobulated. We thought we had landed. But we were corrected by the sight of the Eiffel Tower. Under the plane!

Today we worked on painting movement just like Renoir. We had to show light in our paintings. Like Jacob made a dodge ball tournament painting on his paper with stick men. Also Alexis and Lexi made a painting of two girls dancing. We first had to outline the drawing with a pencil. Then, we had go over the the outlines with paint very, very softly.

Eco Ed Science Lab In School Field trip

Today we had Ms.Jolene come in from the Eco Ed Science Lab Company. We learned about chromatography which is a picture of color. Chroma means color. We had a mystery liquid and everyone guessed what it was and these are what we came up with : marker, Germ-X, 2 votes for nail polish remover, perfume,and a dry erase marker. We stuck pieces of paper into the mystery liquid and there was some sort of liquid or something on each piece of paper. Some of them dissapeered. Some mixed with each other. We also did fingerprinting. Ms. Jolene put fingerprinting powder on our hands and then we tried to wash them and she took the black light on our hands and we tried to see who washed their hands the best. It was pretty hard!!!

Today in Gifted, We did something called a Holiday Wordle! A Holiday Wordle is when you type in something, copy and paste something into it, or enter the name of any blog and then you press enter, and it jumbles the words up in every which-way, and it's a wordle! The words that are used the most show up the biggest, and the words that are used the least, the smallest, sometimes they are not even visible. Check it out at the Wordle website!

Today in gifted we did a mimic of Kandinsky's several circles. Firstly we painted the front and back of four paper plates. We then cut off the rim and used them as arcs to connect our circle. in the end all our paintings looked somthing like this.

Top 40 is comin' soon so get your groove on! Our gifted Top 40 musical is coming on January 22 and 23. So be ready for the speical night. Kindergarten through fifth grade will be dancing and singing in crazy costumes. It will be our greatest musical yet. So get ready to be blown away with all the great songs, dances, and costumes ever. If you're a parent and you're reading this, you'll probably know most of these songs. Oh, by the way, all of these songs we'll be singing have been on the Top 40 radio show.

Today in gifted we had a BLAST!!!!!! We had to make crafts about our book of the month A Plump And Purky Turkey. We wrote rap songs, made posters, and comic strips. It was alot of fun.Also we finished our group choose your own adventure stories today. We worked together to write stories that had lots of different endings. Todays day in gifted class

Today in gifted class we did paintings of Edger Degas. We learned that Edgar Degas liked to draw horses,ballet dancers, and a object traced and draw in different directions that makes it look like it moving. Another thing we did in gifted class is the wonderful wikis. We did research of the modern 7 wonders of the world and added them to the continent wikis on the cce website. We read facts of the Great wall of china, Machu Picchu,and etc. We had wonderful day at our gifted class.

Mystery Powders Mystery?

Today we worked on Mystery Powders. What did we do? We put some baking soda in a sandwhich bag.Then we added vinegar to it. Then it started bubbling like Sprite. It turned into a gas then into a liquid.This is called a chemical change not a physical change a chemical change is when two things mix and won't change back and something new is created. In a physical change, they can change back to the way they were, like water turning into ice and then melting back into water. It was awesome . It was one of the BEST science projects Ever.

Today we learned about the modern 7 wonders like, the Taj Mahal or the Great Wall of China. We went on the CNN website to learn about it. We also learned how to make a origami bat since it was Halloween. It really did look like the shape of a bat. I might of memorized how to make it.

Today we mostly focused on doing our Atlas Ads because, the next week on the 24th we have it off because of a teacher planning day, so we had to work extra hard. :) We learned multiple new songs for our "Top Forty" musical. We also filmed our Atlas ads and will be updated soon on the blog for our *fans* to watch. Some of us finished our Tessellations to and drew pictures on them. (I did a ninja star xD.) While the rest of our class was doing their filming we worked on our honey robbery "Do Theives go Underground."

Fingerprinting

What do you always have but always leave behind? Your fingerprints! Most people's fingerprints look like a whorl, loop or arch. What does your index finger look like?

One of the most exciting activities that we took part in during Friday's gifted class was "fingerprinting". We paired together, and using real police fingerprinting powder, took one another's fingerprints. We began by cleaning our tables in order to wipe them clean of any prior fingerprints. Each partner then placed their prints all over the table. Using brushes, we carefully dusted the table with the fingerprint powder in order to reveal the prints. Lastly we lifted the prints that we found using a piece of tape and laid them on a contrasting color (white) paper. We will spend next week (some of us already did so) inspecting the prints to identify which partner they belong to. How do you tell? Each indiviual's prints are completely unique!

Today in gifted we made tessellations, It was so much fun! Are you wondering what a tessellation is? Well, I know, so get ready, a tessellation is a shape that you can flip, turn, rotate,ect. that makes a bigger patterned picture. http://www.tessellations.org M.C. Today in GIFTED!!!! We did a lot fun stuff like pointillism (an art style that Georges Seurat used for his famous paintings) it was a little challenging. Another thing was Scientist Wikis. We created our own wiki website. A wiki is a wesite that other people can edit, like Wikipedia.Last (and my personal favorite) Webster's Theater! Mrs. Zawis handed out words to pairs of two people. These were words that noit many of us knew, so we looked for what they ment and then we acted them out. Well, thats the end! Keep visiting the blog for more news! BY CHRIS

Fantastic First Day

What a fun and mentally invigorating first day we had in gifted class! We have several new friends in our fourth grade group, which makes our class dynamic even better. One of our new friends will be posting this week, so I will leave the majority of the updating to his future post...I'll just lightly graze over some of what took place last week. We created self portraits and surrounded them with various words that described our leadership qualities. We also learned about Georges Seurat, who painted in a style called "pointillism." This is a technique that takes much patience and diligence, which we learned as we tried it out ourselves. Okay, I could go on...but I will stop here and leave the rest to the "real" bloggers!

super duper silly sentences

When you think of silly snetences you might think of blah blah blah la-ti-da. But i'm not talking about giberish. I'm talking about real sentences.Funny ones like,"the other day, on Elmos World on sesame street Mr.Noodle was doing the noodle family dance!" Ms.Zawis would get a sentence and a situatuation such as a clown and a principle. Then she would give the two partners a silly sentence. The two partners would have to improvise and try to get the conversation to go their way so they can say their silly sentence.You give thumbs up when you say your sentence! I love acting so this game is the best game in the world for me!

I loved it when the crime sene investigator came. My favorite part when she came and made Megan get in a suit and gloves. She looked like a HUGE marshmalow! LOL! I liked,out of the whole school year, when we did the crime scene investagations in Gifted. When the crime scene invesagator was talking about the whole kit and kaboodle for crime scene investagating she pulled outt this HUUUUUUUUGGGGGGE WHITE SUIT!!!! My friend Megan volunteered to wear the huge suit, what she didn't know was she looked like a huge marshmallow!!! LOL X2 Here is a pic of the marshmallow suit worn by a CSI agent.

It is the last day gifted until next year! It was a wonderful year with more wishes to come. My favorite thing we did this year will have to be the musical!! we took almost half of the year to practice! It was so fun singing and performing on stage infront of many people!! I was Peggy Sue in the song, Peggy Sue!! I had a wonderful year and i love my wonderful teacher, Mrs. Zawis!!

A Magical Year

This has been a magical year in the gifted castle and I'm sad that it's almost over.There has been many great things but one is my favorite and it's hard to choose.My favorite thing this year was mythbusters and dropping toast and making people yawn.I also loved all the field trips and most definitely Amelia Island and learning about architecture.But even though that was great my favorite is still Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy.
While dropping toast we were testing if toast falls butter side up every time and we found that that was true.And while yawning we tested if yawning was contagious.And what do you know, it wasn't.Well even though that test failed I still sad that it's the end of gifted and many things succeeded and isn't that what really is key!

A Mythbusting Day

Today we mostly focused one thing. Have you ever seen the show Mythbusters? It is two people trying to solve a rumor like yawning is contagous. Today we did our own little mythbusting with the rumor yawning is contagous. We each had a group of 2 people and we tested them with accordian triangle(where we make a shape out triangles of diffrent colors) We gave them directions on how to do the activity while yawning at random times. We had to see if our subjects yawned too. Our results didn't go as planned. Some groups asked for us to stop yawning!! I guess we have to try again next week!

We also did a couple stories with wholes and learned about Duke Ellington (a famous jazz musician) Next week we'll research a famous jazz musician and we'll pretend to be them by what we learned and have like a interview.

I can't wait until next week!!!

Dome construction

In "dome construction", we built a geodesic dome out of gumdrops & toothpicks.After we created the dome ,we got an award!We got 1 free gumdrop!Right after that we began to build straw houses!Unfortunately,only 1 house was completed!That was the end of a magical day!

Today in gifted, we built arches out of books and chairs. We used heavy books on the bottom to be a good base, and lighter books at the top. It was for our study about Architecture. We used 13 books total to make the arches. We had to buttress each side of the arch to help it stand. Buttressing is when you put pressure on it to help it stand.

Today in gifted we did secret sentances. Secret sentances is when their are two people.Each person picks a sentance. Then you pick a situation like an underwater conversation. Each person takes turns having a conversation. After about three or four times you would use your secret sentance. But the secret sentance must make sense with what is actually being talked about. You can push the conversation torwards what your secret sentance is and give a thumbs up when you used your secret sentance.
We also did Arches. In arches we took our body and used our hand to support us like an arch.Keeping the arch up is called buttresting.
What we also did was,we were handed a list with global monuments. We were also handed a piece of paper with a map of the world. Once you find the location of the monument in an atlas you must mark the correspondig number of the monument on your piece of paper with a map of the world.

Today we fisished another part of honey robbery,we figured outsome more clues. We also painted the t-bird (car) for our gifted musical,we painted it teal. Another fantastic thing we did today is we researched on Johannes Brahms.We also practiced our musical.today was great!

An Informative Day

Whew! We took in quite a bit of information today. In addition to having an at length discussion about genetics, we studied architectural columns including: Egyptian, Greek, and post and lintel designs. Pictures will be posted soon. Would you believe that a rolled up sheet of looseleaf paper could possibly hold multiple books on top of it? Most wouldn't, but our architects in training might beg to differ! I have a question for Ally- you posted a comment inquiring about a particular blog that you looked at recently. Which were blog were you referring to? I am excited to hear and see that you are exploring the technology universe. Way to go!
Don't forget to give your parents the genetics survey so that we can complete Punnett squares next week in class.

Great comments girls!!! Ally, you got it- Elaine is a car! Kudos to those who tried! I will post a new one tomorrow as I realized that I left my book at school. Oops!
On another note- I have a question to pose to all of you...if you had a choice of something that you would be interested in learning more about- any topic at all that is reasonable to learn about at school- what would it be? For example- I myself would pick neuroscience (basically the brain in other words) beacuse that topic fascinates me. What would you pick??? Grids to all those who leave comments!

A "Hole" Lot of Fun

Today we did alot of interesting things.First,we learned about Salvador Dali and made some art like his called surrrealism.Surrealism is kind of like abstract art.It is pretend like a dream.Also, we created an architeture project.We are studying a new unit about architecture.
Last week we learned about stories with holes and this week made up our own.Here are mine,Carli's,and Ally's stories.
Ally's: A man got locked in a ice room.There were big ice cubes everywere!! There was only one window near the ceiling. An hour later, another man came in the ice room he only saw a big puddle of water what happend to the man who got locked in?
Carli's:Rose and Daisy best friends were April and May so they went to meet them.Rose and Daisy had a snack.When they left April and May they were taller than when they came.Why were Rose and Daisy taller when they left?

Graham Cracker Cottage Craziness!

What a fun day we had this past Friday in gifted. We decided to embark on a Martha Stewart inspired version of gingerbread houses- making them out of graham crackers instead. Okay, so they may not have come together quite as smoothly as Martha's did on her show, but we had a blast building and decorating them nonetheless. This group of kids always amaze me with their ability to really dig into a task and make the most of the experience. I am so appreciative to have the opportunity to work with this amazing group of students and wish you and your families a wonderful holiday. Thank you all of your thoughtful gifts. I look forward to learning with my fabulous 4th graders in 2008!

Today we did a science project on stroop effect and followed the scientific method for ex. blue,red then we would have to say the color of the word and be timed.Then we did graham cracker houses then we made riendeer out of gingerbread cookies.

Today at gifted we learn about Rousseau and hinks pinks.One thing we learn about Rousseau is that when he paints his jungle paintshe makes plants and trees bigger than the animals.Also that he puts everyday things into his paintings.Hinks pinks are whenthey give you a quitions and the answer isa one syllable,rhyming words for example, what do you call a silly rabbit,a funny bunny.

Today in gifted we had a guest come in from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office in the Crime Scene Investigation unit and showed us some cool stuff that they use to find criminals of different crime scenes. She brought in some of the things that they use to help investigate crimes such a special powder that they use to see fingerprints. posted by Sara

Another Fabulous Day In Gifted!

Today in Gifted we did some really cool stuff! One thing we did was called cartoon confusion.Cartoon Confusion is when we first have a sheet of paper that has pictures of famouse idioms. what is a idiom? An example of a idiom is "it's raining cats and dogs". So we had to figure out what what the idioms stood for. One of the idioms was a picture of a rainbow and the word somwere over it. Then we came up with a real idiom and drew a picture of it. One of the things i drew was a picture with a girl and a fish. I made the fish sort of looking like it smelt bad, and the what i call "fish stink" was coming up and into the girls nose. The idiom for that was " something smells fishy". And remember when we put up a post about tesselations well we did the same thing as that but instead of wacky shapes we made ghosts.

JMOCA anyone?

JMOCA at first glance sounds like something that you would order at Starbucks, but it isn't! It is actually the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art, the location of our last field trip. We had a great time looking at art in motion. This worked out very well for us as we have been looking at the way artists (Degas in particular), embed a sense of motion in their work. After attempting to paint motion into our pictures, and create wire sculptures that show motion, we were eager to see examples of artists who had done the same. We saw some very interesting works in the gallery, then got to paint some watercolor pictures based on written instructions, and best of all...we got to play in the interactive, hands on loft. Included are some pictures from our trip-enjoy!

Footprint Fiasco

Today in gifted we did footprint fiasco which is footprint crime scene investigation.We went outside and split into two teams.Criminals and investigators.Then the criminals made footprints in the sand.Next the investigation team covered the footprints with plaster.Finally we picked up the plaster and had to match them to the bottoms of the shoes.

Exciting Field Trip!

We are thrilled to report that we were able to reserve seating for the ONLY matinee performance of Cirque de Soleil coming on January 17th. We even got orchestra seating...so we're all going, K-5. Mark your calendar, permission slips will be coming home soon and we'll need to get them back to pay our deposit. I can't wait. I have always wanted to go to one of their amazing productions. I hope you'll be excited too!

I am so excited to work with this fantastic group of 4th graders and hope that you (parents and students alike) have taken the time to check out our class blog. Each time that we have gifted, a different student adds a post to our blog about various activities that we worked on in class that particular day. I can't help but to join in on the fun and will be adding my own posts to update everyone on our classroom events as well. Over the past few weeks, we have been working as detectives throughout our own CSI unit. We have examined our fingerprints and are working on solving a logic puzzle mystery about some missing honey. We have also been studying various artists and composers including Edgar Degas, Georges Seurat and Frederic Chopin just to name a few. Has anyone ever played Tetris? Looked at an Escher painting? Well mix the two together and you'll get an idea of another project that we have been working on over the last few weeks-tessellations! After a selecting s shape, many rotations and turns later, they are all glued down on a piece of paper and are in the process of being colored in. Whew- and our field trip to JMOCA is just around the corner. We are having such a great year and I'll continue to keep you "posted" about our class!

Today we had a messy day.There was cornstarch everywhere and it took forever to clean up.We were doing a project called Fascinating Fingerprints which is where we took eachothers fingerprints.One person was criminal and one was investigator.
We also learned about an artist named Degas.We learned more songs for our upcoming musical Destination Rock and Roll!

Today in class we did a experiment called Have A Cuppa we tryed to make a support to hold a styro-foam cup up in the air full uf rocks for five seconds we used clay,straws,tape and a couple of tooth-picks we all had strange ideas they held up pretty good it was a lot of fun!!!!!!

Today in gifted we did tesselations.Tesselations are something like puzzles. You cut out a shape then trace them and cut out alot of them and put them together with no emty space and no over lapping. I had alot of fun in gifted today and hope to have even more fun next week!

First Day Fun!

Last Friday was our fourth graders first day of gifted for the 2007-2008 school year. We had a lot of fun together- some faces were very familiar as I taught them as third graders, while others were new. Either way, I was happy to see everyone! We began by learning the rituals and routines of our classroom and followed with a day of enlightening activities. We learned about Georges Seurat and tried our hands (literally) at his pointillism technique, played a bit of "Webster's Theater", sang along to a couple of songs for our new musical, not to mention the self portraits we drew! Whew- what a day--and that was just day one! What a thrill it is to work with all of these enthusiastic minds! I cannot wait until tomorrow-onward and upward we go!

Me-The Little Mermaid?

One of my favorite Disney movies to watch as a kid was The Little Mermaid. I think that my sister and I had the entire movie memorized- we even had a tape of the soundtrack so that we could sing alond to every song. I think that I secretly wanted to be Ariel- a free spirited explorer who swam around wither her friends all day. This week, the teachers had to do some fun activities on our first day back to school and would you believe that one of these involved logging on to a website, taking a quiz, and finding out which Disney character you were most like?! Well, wouldn't you know, much to my excitement, I was most like Ariel. I guess some dreams really do come true -in a funny roundabout way! Which Disney character are you most like? Blogging 101

Yeah! What an accomplishment! I've survived "Blogging 101" which is certainly a feat in and of itself, as I do not consider myself technologically savvy by any means. Now that I have my very own window into the world, I am excited to begin exploring. What a fun way for me to integrate my love of writing and constant desire to learn. I always say that if I could afford to spend my life taking classes and learning, I would!
